It comes after e-cigarettes proved the most popular tool for quitting during last year’s campaign, with 53% of people using them. In total, over 1.5 million people took part in Stoptober last year.
The government’s deputy chief medical officer Prof Gina Radford said that e-cigarettes had “95% less harmful products” in them than normal cigarettes and therefore it made sense to promote them during Stoptober.
