Can I Borrow a Friend’s Car?
There are no laws against borrowing a friend’s car. All you need is:
- Your friend’s permission.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Adequate car insurance.
Am I Insured To Drive My Friend’s Car?
Not necessarily. Comprehensive car insurance policies used to include cover for driving other cars (DOC). This gave you third party insurance for driving other people’s cars. However, DOC cover is not as common as it used to be. Check your car insurance policy to make sure you have this form of cover. Who Does DOC Cover?
