West Yorkshire Police recently seized a vehicle because the driver was commuting from work, but their insurance policy didn’t include cover for commuting. This can be a common misconception and whilst insurance may have been in place for this journey the driver was uninsured – something which has become a major issue over recent years.
It also highlights the importance of making sure that you know exactly what your insurance policy provides cover for as well as the importance of giving wholly accurate information when applying for insurance cover.
The Motor Insurance Bureau along with police recently ran a national campaign called Operation Drive Insured in October 2017 with the aim of highlighting some of the common myths about motor insurance and to create awareness of the impact of driving without valid insurance.
