Do disposable vapes taste better?
This is surely a matter of opinion. And yet, we talk to a lot of vape shop owners and their suppliers. And many seem to agree that disposable vapes simply taste better than reusable vapes.
In this post we’ll explore some possible reasons why, for many, disposable vapes taste better.

How Do Disposable Vapes Differ from Reusables?
To understand why so many people find disposable vapes taste better, you first need to understand how a vape works.
A vape contains a cartridge or a reservoir, which is full of the e-liquid that gives vapes their flavour. A small wick transports the liquid to an atomiser coil, which converts the liquid into an inhalable vapour.
This small wick is a key reason why disposable vapes might taste better.
Why Do Disposable Vapes Taste Better?
In most disposable vapes, the wick’s made out of cotton. In all the time the vape spends in storage, in transit, and in stores, this cotton wick will be absorbing the e-liquid. So from the moment you start using the disposable vape, you’ll get an intense hit of flavour from this pre-soaked cotton wick.
With a refillable vape, on the other hand, you’ll have to load the e-liquid cartridge yourself before you start vaping. Usually, the wick won’t have enough time to absorb much liquid before you start using it, so it will take a while for a refillable vape to give you a flavour as full as that which you’d get from a disposable vape.
Other Reasons Why Disposable Vapes Taste Better
- Refillable vapes come in a range of styles and sizes. Disposable vapes, on the other hand, usually have a streamlined, standardised design, with very little variety between different brands. The reason this style is so widespread is because it works: It’s a reliable way of giving you a high-quality vaping experience. Any deviation from this design may improve the experience, or it may make it worse.
- E-liquids contain sweeteners. Over time, these can stick to the coil in the vape’s atomiser, which will eventually affect the flavour. Because of this, e-liquids for refillable vapes generally contain low levels of sweetener. Those who make e-liquids for disposable vapes, though, don’t have to be so mindful of the atomiser deteriorating. They’re therefore free to use higher levels of sweetener, which can of course improve the taste.
- Disposable vapes are also more likely to use nicotine salts in their e-liquids, which can result in stronger and smoother flavours. E-liquids that don’t contain nicotine salts may have a higher strength, but some find them to be overly harsh.
Disposable Vapes Might Taste Better, But Are They Sustainable?
Even if disposable vapes taste better, refillable vapes have a significant advantage: You can use them again and again. But with a disposable vape, you have to throw away the entire device once you’re done with it.
You cannot recycle disposable vapes along with your household recycling, due to some of the components they contain. But it is still possible to recycle disposable vapes.
